In partnership with The Lord’s Lamp stand Christian Church in Bacolod City, MEANS is raising funds for 800 Thongs (Flip-flops) to be distributed as Christmas presents to poor children attending at F.F. Gonzaga Elementary School, Bacolod City. The children will hear the Christmas story; receive a gift wrapped pack with a pair of Thongs; a Christmas Tract, and some goodies.
Give Up. Give $10.00 – we challenge our friends what to give up worth $10 and Give $10.00 to Thongs Project. Pray for those who have committed to GIVE Up for this project. Give $10 will be a profound reminder for us to embrace the principle exemplified by the widow, who gave ALL that she had in her pocket to honor and acknowledge the greatness of her God. Jesus saw what she did! She became an object lesson on what it means to “Give Up something she treasured for the sake of the kingdom.” “Because little becomes much, when we place it in the Master’s hands.”
Experience the POWER of Giving Up
What is a Thong? It is a Flip-flop. A Rubber slippers commonly used in the Philippines.
Great art work. I like the angels wearing slippers!
“I learned that when one starts giving up something, even a small thing, for the sake of the Kingdom – your heart becomes bigger and bigger until you learn to give up everything for the sake of the Kingdom of God. I can’t say that I have reached that point yet, since the heart wants to hold tightly on something that we cherish, love and enjoy. But, God is gracious and if we continue to do it – it will no longer be as hard as when we first did it.” quoted from a friend.

I can’t get over with this overwhelming feeling of joy knowing God’s love is translated into action through the Thongs project. Thank you for all your loving support and encouragement to everyone.
This close up pictures of little feet is so moving. They represent hundreds or thousands of little feet in the Philippines who can’t afford rubber slippers. I’m praying that God will continue to inspire many hearts to give to MEANS.
Another thought came to mind: Jesus washing the disciples’ feet. Though we take the lesson on servant hood from this story, what I also learned is: Jesus GIVING UP His Kingly throne to kneel down and make everyone’s feet clean.
Likewise, we can Give Up our own comfort by kneeling down to the King and ask His grace to protect many little feet who someday will become His followers.
The fruit of Thongs Project goes beyond giving and receiving. It will be seen in the lives of these young recipients, who’s been touched by His love and whose feet will someday follow His footsteps.
